Doctor is on insurance

My company recently switched to Aetna EPO. I have scheduled an appointment for February 13 with a doctor who does Lap RNY and is about an hour from my home. He is the closest bariatric surgeon to me. Problem: While the doctor is on my insurance "list", the hospital where he practices is not. Insurance tells me they may make an exception and pay - Anyone else with this problem - if so how was it solved?
