Will I be able to stay by myself about a week after surgery?

My mom is coming to stay with me in the hospital and for a few days after I am released. Then she wants me to come stay with her for a few weeks till I get my strength back. My mom lives 6 hours away. I am very indepedent and really want to me alone. Several of my friends have offered to come stay with me. Will I be able to stay by myself with friends just a phone call away? It is not like I will have to cook or anything.
