Getting Bronchitis, and supposed to see pulmonologist!!

I see the pulmonologist on September 8th!! I'm going to beg for the antibiotics tonight, but does anyone have any remedies that might shorten it?? I need to do well because my surgery is scheduled for October and I do not want to put it off!! Any advice at all would be helpful!
