Anyone out there with IBS?

I was diagnosed with IBS several years ago and am on medication. Today I had my first consult (a milestone!!) with the surgeon and he recommended doing a Lap Band procedure vs. a lap RNY. Was anyone here diagnosed with IBS prior to an RNY and after surgery, did it affect your IBS one way or the other? I am not sure my insurance will cover the lap band, so we may end up doing the RNY anyhow. Thanks for your help!
