Am wondering if Lovenox shots should also be given as a back up to the IVC Filter?

Hello, I am 28 years old and had a bloodclot Dec 2000. It was from my pregnancy. My son was born Oct 29 2000. They believe it developed in my pelvis. My doctor (surgeon) said she wanted me to have the IVC filter in. I was wonderfing first what happens if the cot develops above the filter and when it gets caught it is still above the filter? How much does the filter actually work? Success rate? Does anyone know? Also would you suggest combinding this with Lovenox shots after surgery to have as a back up? I am having my surgery at St. Vincent in Indy with Dr. magaret Inman. Amy Rice
