Has anyone had lap RnY approved by them?

Dr. Alverdy (U of Chicago) refuses to do the surgery open any longer because of his high success rate. The insurance company feels laproscopic surgery is experimental. They will only approve open surgery. I wonder if there is another United Healthcare in anoather state that has approved it?
