Denied again....now on 3rd appeal
Tricare came back on the initial request for surgery and stated that it looked like I had a snoring disorder, not apnea. I appealed and showed further sleep tests and another doctor's note from my neurologist which clearly stated apnea. Now, Tricare doesn't state to what degree of severity the apnea has to be, just that apnea is considered a comorbidity. They now came back and said that I do have apnea, but not severe enough and that I am only 12# away from having a 35 bmi, so they denied me again. I went and had myself remeasured I am 5'7 1/4, not 5'8, so this ups my bmi even more. I don't know what happens if the 2nd appeal is denied. Do you all think it is too late to contact the appeal agency and tell them I was measured wrong? I am about ready to eat for the next week and gain the 10 or so pounds needed to put me at a bmi of 40...this is crazy. Used to be that you had to be at least 100# overweight to get the military to help you, now that isn't enough. Maybe had they had a weightloss program around when I was 15 or 16 when I was only 10-20 pounds overweight, they wouldn't have to be dealing with me now... Sorry for the rant..just frustrated.
