Will high BP interfere with having surgery?

On 6/5/01 my BP was 150/110...highest ever... my PCP put me on meds but I don't feel a difference...I still feel tight thru the chest. I go back for a recheck on 6/19. I'm wondering if it stays high if it will it keep me from having surgery in July. Has anyone had surgery w/ high BP?
