Is there a certain amount of time that the approval letter is good for??

I've heard that the approval letters are only good for 30 days, is this true?? I recieved 2 letters in the mail, one was dated 1/1/01, the other was dated 1/30/01. Does that mean I only have until the 30th to get my surgery, or does that mean I have until 30 days after 1/30 to get my surgery done?? Please help, don't want to screw this up, and have to resubmit the paperwork to Aetna again.
