How do I find a doctor that will do my surgery sooner than next JULY??

Hi All, I am living in Sacramento, California and have already been accepted by UC Davis Medical Center to have WLS. My only problem is that I am on SSI and my medical insurance is straight Medi Cal. UCD will only take two medi cal patients per month and there is a HUGE waiting list. I am on the list for July of 2001. I would like to know if I can simply go to another doctor (maybe in Fresno or Chico) and get the surgery any sooner? Has anyone on Medi cal had this surgery that can give me some insight?? July is SO far away and Fresno is only a few hours away. Any sugguestions are MUCH appreciated.
