Does anyone know if we postops are more likely to have problems when traveling overse

I just got back from Mexico City. I went with a group of 50 children and adults on a Mission Trip to work in an orphange. It was a wonderful experience (email me if you want details about that) BUT I got deathly ill. We all ate the same food, drank the same bottled water, etc. I was the only person to get sick. I ended up flying home with a 104 temp (and 35 screaming 4th graders) and being immediately hospitalized for dehydration. I have been diagnosed with an "intestinal parasite" and am now on mega-antibiotics. I'm curious to know if we postops are more sensitive to these problems, since I was the only one of 50 people to get sick. Should we take antibiotics as a preventive measure before we travel overseas? I had no trouble with 10 days in the Carribean on a cruise, but 4 days in Mexico just about finished me off. I'm 5 months postop from an open RNY. Thanks!!
