With a DS distal, how bad is RX absorption?

I am still battling the UTI I got right after m surgery. I was on Cipro 250 mg for 7 days. The symptoms have lessened, but are not gone...last 2 days are intensifying. Being a DISTAL DS, can it be that the medication isn't being absorbed enough to knock this UTI out? I am starting a higher dose...I need someone who knows their stuff to help me out...can this malabsorption of meds be a factor and how is it dealt with when it comes to other ailments?!?!
