What do I need to do to get approval on a tummy tuck?

My Insurance, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota has approved a breast reduction and repair of my football sized hernia. They want 6 months of medical records showing where my excess skin has been a problem before they approve my tummy tuck. How do I do this if I have not seen a DR? I was using ointment I have from my first surgery so didn't feel the need to go. Would seeing a Doctor now help things? I hate to have the hernia repaired without the skin taken off as well. Any suggestions?
