How long is a tub of Protein good for once open?

I have been searching and searching and can't find the answer. Hubby and I are still pre op but I was tryting to get things in order as we have dates early Spring '04. Once a tub of Protein powder is open what is it's shelf life? I was planing to have several different kinds of shakes available during each month so we don't get board with one flavor etc etc... This could potentially have us with several tubs of different flavored shakes open for a month or two or even three. I do not want it to go bad. Will keeping it in the freezer help extend the shelf life?
