I have a burning left rib pain that is getting worse-anyone else?

It started at 3 wks and now is so bad that I am sitting on a couch again. I can't walk, bend without a tearing sensation on the left rib. The doctor's office says its normal but now it's burning and worse--I see him next Wednesday but can I wait?
