HELP one year out and still have major heartburn

I had my gallbladder out so i know it is not that...I take Zantac and I'm starting to think I'm hurting myself instead of healping. Do taking Zantac, tums etc make the matter worse. What can I do to relieve this. This happens almost every day...Thanks
