Doctor leaving town...what about follow-up?

I wanted to know how people would feel if their surgeon moved across the country and their weren't any other doctors in that town that have performed RYN. This isn't happening to me but it is happening in my hometown. The surgeon is leaving March 1st and I saw on this site that he is performing a surgery February 28th. I assume his patients can travel to nearby cities to see bariatric doctors for follow up....I would be a little upset. But of course I have chosen a doctor 2 hours away so maybe it's all the same! Go where you need to go to get what you want.
