Wife has had dry heaves & diarrea for 4 days now, shes 1 mth post-op?

My wife has had constant nausea, diarrea & dry heaves for 4 days now post-op, she contacted dr on day 2 and was given regelin, which did not help yesterday, went to hospital & had bloodwork & xray of admonin, both came back fine per dr., called dr. late last nite said to go to er this morning to get admitted to get iv's and run gi series to check for cause, has any one else had anything similar and if so what was the cause and outcome? (i have read message boards and see that this is the time in healing process that the Stoma may close, is this true and if so could this be the cause)?, sorry for being so long winded
