Referral for Psych Evaluation in Los Angeles or Orange County

Have been approved for surgery by my insurance company, hooray! Today, I decided to change surgeons and at the appt. found he wants a psych eval which I have not had done yet. Called his referring doctor, and they want $575.00 (ouch!) Any suggestions on getting this done timely and obviously less expensive would be greatly appreciated.
