has anyone had to wait to submit their info to the insurance co.?

The doctors office wants to wait until Jan. to submit my information to the insurance company because they said BC/BS doesn't usually want to accept anyone this late in the year and if they deny me it will take around 3 months for them to reonsider me. I don't want to take the chance of them denying me but they are booking surgeries for Feb. and March now and if I wait it will probley be May or June before I can have my surgery. What should I do?
