Im 8.5 years post op has anyone joined the military?

I am 8.5 years post-op and was wondering about joining the military. I have read the QA on the board but all of those answers are from 2002-2003 mostly. I have called several recruiters some said gastric bypass was an automatic disqualification while a few others said I will have to be cleared by the MEPS Doctor and then approved by the surgeon general as well as have a waiver from the surgeon who performed. So I was just wondering if anyone here has been accepted or know of anyone being accepted after going through those steps. Also I noticed many poster mentioned certain food not being able to consume. After my surgery I had no restrictions however milk and ice cream does make me sick, but I am able to consume any food. all of my levels are fine and my health is great Thanks in advance for any answers given
