Am I the only on who had to jump through a year's worth of hoops?

My journey has been almost a year now; I have had trouble with every aspect of the process. First, not enough dietidian visits; second, no hard co morbitidies; third, just shy of 100 pounds overweight. I have had to gain weight, got sicker in the process, and almost gave up when I got my denial letter. I did some careful wording from a friend and they overturned my denial. I am now awaiting my surgery date and can't wait! but now I am feeling like I have to make up for a life that will not be there in these last months pre-op. Is this normal?
