Has anyone had a post -op leak?

My son in law had a leak that almost killed him. It's now 2 1/2 months later and he is still leaking. Anyone with this issue and how long did the leak take to close? He has had 4 procedures to "glue" the hole still no luck. Dr's say "be patient" Thats getting very difficult as he cannot eat or drink nothing( not even a sip of water) Any info would be appreciated
