If insurance is approved in 2002 but not avail 2003,will they honor ?

I am wondering if anyone has experience in the Insurance World...I have heard rumors that my insurance might not cover WLS surgery in 2003. Since my surgeon has a 6 months wait - it could be around that time. It is just driving me nuts to think if I get approved in 2002, will they pay if the actual surgery is in 2003 ? Anyone ?
