Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?

I have told my immediate family only. At this time I have no intention of telling friends or co-workers or extended family. I don't exactly want to lie either, I just don't think it's anyone's business. So what has worked for you guys? My surgery is scheduled for three weeks out (2/28) Thanks for your insights.
