Anyone had success with lap band surgery with a BMI over 50?

I am considering WLS and have done nine months of research on lap band as that is the surgery I believe would fit my lifestyle the best. After my appointment today my Dr. informed me that he strongly suggests I do the bypass because of my bmi. I am curious to see what others results have been.
