Where to start when wanting mechanics checked out?

I'm 2 years post-op and often wonder if my stoma is too large. I want to have my mechanics checked out, but 1) I've moved across country from my original surgeon and 2) he's retired anyway. Where do I start? With my PCM? Do I just find another surgeon and ask him to check me? Is this covered by insurance, or will I self-pay? Thanks!
