muscle bruised behind chest bone

thought I was having a heart attack, went to ER, had scan the whole nine yards heart is fine,l doc said that I bruised my muscle in chest-- anybody had this? it hurts when I take a deep breath or to bend down-- it has been 5 days already and it still hurts only stops hurting when I take the pain meds. Don't know how I did it- I do excerise 5 days a week. I had up my time on the elipical, told me to not work out for a week-:( said it was going to take time. I am 2 years out and my chest is just bones lol.
