What do you wish someone would have told you before you had surgery?
I've only just begun my WLS journey, and have at least 6 months to go before I'll seen an operating room. I've been doing a lot of research here, and at other sites, about the WLS options available to me. I don't mind admitting that I am overwhelmed by the choice before me and have not made up my mind about what surgery I'll get, although I am leaning towards Lap-Band right now (I am 5'6" and 354 lbs. w/ BMI of 56). I am clear on the risks/complications of having surgery, and the wonderful benefits as well. But what I really want to know is what I don't know. What is it that doctor's or RN's haven't told me yet about the process? What are some of the things that you (those of you who have gone through WLS already ) where completely surprised by?
