it is true that when you choose to have the RNY life is like living like a diabetic

because i have a friend that she have her RNY like 6 year allready and she tollme that is a verry big step that i am shousing because i wont be able to eat sweet and my sugar in my body is going to be up and down like an diabetic is that true ?
