Re-Aetna appoval for surgery

I live in Florida and have Aetna PPO. It was time consuming to get approved. I first had to have a referral from primary care, my endocrinologist and cardiologist. They had to send all my records and all of the many diets and weight loss attempts that I have made over the past 2 years. I had to be followed by a nutritionlist on a low cal diet along with my primary care for 6 month. Had to have psychological evaluations and her recommendation. I was 100 pounds overweight with major health issues. It took over 6 months, they denied me first. But finally they approved it. My husband had gastric bypass also...he went through the same garbage with Aetna. I wish you the best of luck. Don't give up, keep on them for approval. It is your health which is most important. My RNY was on 12/16/09 I have lost 80 pounds and I have 25 pounds till goal weight. If I can be of any help please let me know. Fran
