Stricture at 18 days post-op?
I am 18 days postop... been doing GREAT so far, with no complaints until today. I moved up to stage 3 (pureed foods) on Tuesday of this week, experimenting with pinto bean puree. It went down good, so I have had it a few times. But today when I tried to eat a little bit of it, after just a few bites I started feeling like it was backing up in my pouch and I got really nauseated. I ran for the Phenergan gel, rubbed it into my wrists, and prepared for the worst. After about an hour, the feeling subsided. TWO hours after the first episode I thought I would give it another try. BAD idea. The same thing happened, and this time I ended up vomiting just a small amount of foamy liquid. (I was surprised that it didn't hurt at all!) About three hours after that episode, I was able to drink a protein shake with no problems. To be honest, I am a little scared to eat/drink anything... that feeling was terrible, to be so nauseated. I have heard that strictures are fairly common, and easy to treat. From what I have read on the message boards, this sounds like a stricture. OF COURSE I would come to this realization on a Friday night, when there is no one at the surgeon's office! I really don't feel like this is an emergency situation, so I am planning on just monitoring how I feel, and if it is worse tomorrow then I will call the surgeon's office and see if I can get a doc-on-call to call me back about it. Any advice? Thanks in advance! :)
