I have been ok'ed to start taking my birth control pill

Does anyone know how long it needs to be in my pouch before it is absorbed? I take it right when I wake up and won't drink anyting for over an hour...is this enough time? Someone told me to take it at night but I tend to drink a lot of water before bed...what is best?
