How can I fit this into my job?

I will be having surgery in a few months,the date hasn't been set yet. I work in a hospital laboratory with bacteria, blood samples etc... No food or drink allowed in work areas because it could get contaminated. How do I do the bypass post op diet when I go back to work? I deal with patient specimens in critical capacity. I just can't go to the break room every fifteen minutes or so for a drink or small snack. Lunch is worked around my patient workload and my co-workers schedules so it is not at a fixed time. Anybody else work in a hospital who has had the surgery?
