After open rny can you still feel it

i am 2 days pre op and soooo glad to have found this forum. my doctor makes a horizontal incision, and i was wondering if you can still feel the same sensations as now. currently i must say i do a good job, when i put my stick down. but i'm a little concerned about the possible lack of physical feeing.
