Hernias with muscle spasms?

I am 8 years post-op from lap band (actually, had it removed 5 years ago). I now have a hernia on the left side of my abdomen. I don't know what type it is yet because I no longer have a belly-button; It's incisional for sure because I've had about 7 abdominal surgeries, my last in 2006. Anyhow, if I sit up too long, it hurts, but when I lay down, I get twitchy muscle spasms all over my abdomen. Luckily they don't hurt. Has anyone else experienced these muscle spasms when laying down? I see a general surgeon in 2 weeks for a consult (my PCP diagnosed the hernia). I'm just stressed out and am looking for some reassurance. Thanks, everyone.
