Does anyone have stomach ulcers before surgery?

My stomach ulcer situation is so bad that my GI doctor told me not to have RNY but to have the gastric sleeve. I talked with my surgeon and both docs wrote the insurance company a letter. However, the insurance company denied the sleeve claiming it is only experimental and hasn't been proven effective yet. They will approve the other surgery. My GI docs concern is that if the ulcers develop again they won't be able to access my stomach via scope, but only through surgery. I am currently on 3 meds (7 pills, and 8 tsp) daily just for my GI issues. The surgeon said the RNY will cure the GERD, Barrett's and Esophagitis. I see him Monday. I just wanted to know if anyone had problems slight-severe with ulcers and went through with RNY. Thank You
