What woukd cause a severe dumping situation??

Over the past seven years I have had two or three issues with the "dumping"syndrome..however 3 months ago one started and it was violent and lasted 6 hrs..ie:my bowels emptied and I foamed(gagged) that entire time. It was frightening and I felt awful for two months. Although things are finally returning to normal, there are still minor issues ie:TONS of gas that has to be expelled due to the pain it causes...anyone in the koknw about the why and how and complications of this??
