How long is too long to wait for a first appointment with your surgeon??

I went to a WLS seminar 4 weeks ago and filled out all the necessary paperwork. I was told someone would call me. So far nothing. I sent an e-mail to the office manager and she said I would hear something "soon". Is this routine and normal for the first step? I am dying to get going on this. What should I expect?
