My Dr. says I have a stricture and wants to admit me to hospital for hydration

I called the Dr. today because of vomiting and stomach crams. He feels I have a stricture but because it is the weekend he is not sure if he can find a Dr to do an endoscopy. How bad is and endoscopy? do they sedated you? I had and NG ube in the hospital after surgery and that was the worse thing I have EVER had. If I can't keep 30 oz of liquid down today he is going to admit me to the hospital for hydration (which I am sure I need). any info appriciated
