why have i put on weight since i had a hernia repair in september of 2005?

I had gastric bypass roux n y in 2002, i had gotten down to 199 pounds in last august. however, on 9-5-05, I had to have emergency hernia repair. i have since put on this weight. i am now up to 245 pounds again. is this common? what does nayone do once they start putting on weight? can we get it off again or are our insides just a mess for this to happen?
