is lap band better than realize band?

I have lost 31 lbs to date. I had sugery Oct.16 of 08. My band holds 9 cc's. Does this mean that it is not as tight to start with? My friend had lapband with 4 cc's and has had more weight loss in less time. I feel restriction but feel like I have always been able to eat more than her. I usually stop eating before I want to. My band has 6 cc's in it now, with only room for 3 more. I'm scared I won't ever get to that "sweet spot" I hear about.
