Had Abnormal EKG

Went to my primary Dr. today for blood work to prepare for Roux N Y Gastric Bypass. She said that my EKG was slighly abnormal and I must do a stress test and Echo. Can that prevent me from having surgery? Everytime I go to her machine reads the same thing and we I go to the heart dr. as a follow up NOTHING IS WRONG? Please share any experiences with me.
