Pregnant! What to expect while I'm expecting!
I just found out that I am pregnant. I'm not overly concerned for the baby, I'm concerned for me! I'm sure I can grow a healthy baby - there are so many of you who have proven that can be done. The part that is scaring me and has me on edge is the gain. I know this sounds awful but I wanted to lose 25 lbs more, not gain them! I also have a nice, huge hernia! Oh - and did I mention a problem with Reactive Hypoglycemia. I'll be 4 years out in June so the weight loss has stopped. In the past year I've gained back about 12 to 15 pounds but was able to maintain that until just recently when I cracked down was able to get rid of about 4 of that. I was feeling great and positive that I could drop the weight I'd gained and a few more to have as a "cushion". Now look! What can I expect? What kind of gains have you folks experienced? Does anyone have any words of advice! How is well the Glucose Tolerance Test (the one for the gestational diabetes) tolerated by WLS patients? Please don't interperet this post as one of ingratitude for this pregnancy or blast me because I have these concerns. I'm 38 years old and thought I was finished having children. I, like the rest of you, have gone through a lot and worked very hard to get to a healthy weight. I also understand that some of you have this surgery in order to become pregnant. Again, please don't misunderstand this posting. I do have concerns for the baby; not due to the surgery but due to my age. And even though it wasn't expected and I'm still trying to get my head around the idea that does not mean that I'm unhappy about it. Just concerned and in need of a little camaraderie! Thanks to all.
