when figuring your bmi-does the surgeon go by your weight only?

The reason that i ask this is----i am 293 pounds, and approx 5'10 or 5'11. I am 100 pounds overweight (PER THE WEIGHT CHART). i AM SUPPOSE TO BE 152-162 POUNDS. Has anyone had any issues with this same situation? Or can someone enlighten me on what the surgeon looks for---to determine if you are a candidate to have the surgery done. Thank you to anyone that can shed some light on this for me:)
