Has anyone had to take the appeal to the state (michigan) and been approved?

Hello this past monday my paperwork was sent to the insurance place. By the next day they sent me a letter saying I was denied. The lady there told me that the doctor that handled my case thinks of the surgery as a "quick fix". She also told me not to appeal to the ins office, but to take it to the state of Michigan. Has anyone won infront of a judge? I am so scared. They denied me because my diabetes and high blood pressure is under controll with meds and i went to weight watchers for 5 months and lost 10 lbs and they said that i should have stayed with ww because I lost weight... Now I weigh 360 lbs..10 lbs is nothing to me after 5 months...am I right and also I thought having my blood pressure and diabetes under controll was a Good thing???? Please help.
