Is there a problem when switching insurances?

I found that my current insurance is not accepted by my surgeon, so I called and switched. Since I just joined, I have 90 days to change my mind. My PCP is with both plans. I see my PCP for the first time on Aug.2nd, should I discuss WLS or wait until Sept.1st when my new insurance kicks in? I don't know if it will be considered a pre-existing condition.
