Anybody know of a short term Life and/or disability Ins./ policy to protect family?

Don't get me wrong, I trust my surgeon. I trust that she will do the best job possible for me. But, accidents happen. I would like to know if anybody has taken out a policy for 2-4 months to cover you while you are in surgery and recovering in case you should pass away? Does anybody know of a disability policy that will let you take it out a month before surgery and get disability? I know I should have thought of these things sooner but I didn't so now I am scrambling.
