Has anyone gotten surgery with a pre-op BMI less than 40 and no co-morbs?

I am being told repeatedly by different doctors that I am not heavy enough to qualify. I have a BMI of 38.7 and no comorbs. This feels like a double kick in the pants because not only am I not heavy enough (in their eyes anyway) but with no other health issues the ins co will think this surgery is for cosmetic reasons only? I have Bc/BS Insurance now in case that makes any difference.
