What happens if you have a fistula?

I'm trying to get a revision to RNY after a VBG in 1997. I had an upper GI and just found out I have GERD and a fistula, a leak in my staple line. What does this mean? Where does the food or whatever leak to and what else good happen because of this? How long can I wait to have my revision? I was hoping to have it at the beginning of June. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks!
